About Kari
Expertly disguised by day, Kari's creativity demands an outlet at night and she transforms into a storytelling mommy-superhero. A lifelong learner and active member of SCBWI, 12x12 Challenge, and graduate of The Children’s Book Academy and Making Picture Book Magic, Kari uses her learned storytelling superpowers to regale her family with tall tales, unique characters, and amazing adventures. Later, when her family falls fast asleep, she initiates lightning speed typing to capture them all. When Kari is not creating super-exciting stories, you will find her in a cape playing dress-up with her favorite sidekicks. Confections are her kryptonite, and her arch-nemesis remains the evil Dr. Gluten.
Kari is the award-winning author of HOW TO HATCH A READER and three forthcoming picture books. She loves writing funny and lyrical picture books and also writes middle-grade and young adult novels-in-verse. Four plucky chickens are kind enough to share their home with Kari, her husband, and their two little girls. When she is not regaling her family with tall tales or creating colorful characters for her stories, you will find Kari reading voraciously or stuffing her double-decker little free library full of books.
